Contact Lenses
Your Local Contact Lens Specialists
Drs. McBride and OSaurus are highly trained in all types of contact lenses. The best time to discuss your specific eyes and contacts is at your annual exam, and our doctors and staff will guide you through the process.
Soft Contact Lenses: Soft contact lenses are popular because they are very comfortable and easy to handle. They come in daily disposable, 2-week disposable, and monthly disposable options. There has been great expansion in the last 10 years and now most come with extended options for high powers, astigmatism, and multifocal lenses. Daily Disposable lenses are the safest lenses with the lowest risk of infection or complications. Soft contact lenses are rarely recommended for nighttime wear, and only with a doctor’s oversight.
Hard Contact Lenses: There are numerous types of hard contact lenses, which are customized for your eyes and prescription. Typically hard lenses are worn during the day only and replaced on an annual basis. Some people with corneal eye disease will be able to see much more clearly when wearing a hard lens compared to a soft contact lens.
Colored Contact Lenses: Even without any power to the lens, colored contact lenses are still medical devices that must be fit by your doctor. We offer a selection of “normal” eye colors and “costume” eye colors specially ordered with your prescription.
Contacts for Children: Yes, children can wear contact lenses! It depends on the needs of the child, the desire of the family, and the willingness to work with your optometrist. Specialized contact lenses have been shown to reduce the development of myopia, or near-sightedness. Read more about Myopia Management here.
